Carp Slam VI: No More Secrets

Do some digging and you find out that most Carp Slam competitors write the name of their go-to fly on a little piece of paper and then quickly swallow it.  That way nobody can figure out their secrets but their secrets are so secretive they need to be able to dig into the better not mentioned in the unfortunate circumstance where they themselves forget.  I am not sure I am man enough to do the dirty deed if I forget so I got drunk and took this nice picture of my go-to fly instead.  I should be able to decipher it in an emergency.

Oh hell, who am I kidding.  First off I drink about once or twice a year and tonight was not it.  Second of all I have a blog.  You wanna have secrets?  Don't start a blog.  Secrets and blogs don't play nicely.

Don't forget to stop on by my competitors page and donate to the Denver South Platte.  In case you missed it all those who join team Fly-Carpin are entered to win loot.

    1. You didn't have to tie them. My eyes are permanently crossed and I still have a couple of different weight / hook combos I need to fill out.

    1. You know how it is. Its not the pattern that kills you but the weight variations.

  4. Mine are with what I had in hand. V Rib body, XLG Bead Chain Eyes, my rabbit is tied fuzzy up with a small bit of foam to help the fly tail stay wagging up, and it does. Size 8 Scud Hook. Love it, caught everything but carp on it, but watched the neatest carp take ever by a rare river carp of my son's as it moved quickly to inhale the fly before it slid off a bar. Being a creature of habit you know what I use most, but always intend to soak more of my rendition. Anxious to see the Slam report!

    1. Oh, pretty sure that works just fine. You know how it is Gregg, the details that are yours are there for confidence and confidence is what catches fish. Those details give confidence go with em! Many of my most memorable and aggressive takes come on this fly similar to the one you described.

    1. Ain't likely Ty. Been having a hard enough time getting and keeping caught up on my own suppy between fishing them, giving them to friends and getting ready for the Slam. I am so sick of tying this one pattern, gives me mad respect for production tiers.
