Intimidation Time
I may be jumping the gun here but I feel it is high time to let all those other chumps in Carp Slam VI know what they are up against.
I checked out the last remaining beat that I had never fished today for an hour and a half. It turns out I had my reasons for not stopping by. When I finally got a take I was so stunned that I think I soiled myself before forgetting to set the hook in stunned amazement. No biggy, that just meant I fit in better with my surroundings. Ughhhhh.

Soon the DSP will be crawlin' with those bad boyz... nice work.
ReplyDeleteActually today they WERE crawling with SMB in about that size. I probably blew 30 or 40 out of the shallows and had 7 or 8 grab my fly. This was the only one determined enough to get hooked despite the fly being as big as it's mouth.
DeleteA good sign eh? The more species the better for the DSP.

We talk about that allot around here Gregg. Why on earth the DSP is not a world class SMB fishery is a mystery. It probably has something to do with unstable water levels or something because they have done surveys that show a surplus of babies but minimal survival to adulthood. From a structure standpoint it seems ideal.
DeleteA fine entry for the "He may not be thick but he's short" category.
ReplyDeleteKind of an expert on that category myself.
That sounds like a personal problem Ty. I am willing to bet you can check your yahoo email spam box for hundreds if not thousands of solutions.
DeleteIt looks like a juvenile spotted bass to me? Do they exist in the DSP?
ReplyDeleteHow in the heck would I know? My son's goldfish is bigger than this AND puts up more of a battle. Hey, don't judge me, winters are rough around here.
DeleteI was thinking it could be a new one to add to the captured list for you if it's a spot!
ReplyDeleteI know, I know. Story of my life.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing as Miles - that looks alot like a juvenile spot. They get a lot of bad press around here for out-competing SMB and taking over. I kinda like 'em though.
I will have to look into that. I think I may have heard something somewhere about spots. If do that goes from funny dink to treasured addition to the species list!
