I am looking forward to putting it through it's paces. I plan to tomorrow as a matter of fact. While rigging it up I was reminded of two things. First I was reminded that welded loops are sliced bread. Secondly I remembered a funny story that made me laugh at myself. I thought perhaps you all would enjoy laughing at me as well.
This is not my first RIO Carp line you see. Five years ago I got one as part of a Carp-Slam swag bag. The next spring as I put it into action I was dismayed to find that I couldn't cast it. At all. It was (or seemed to be at the time) the most odd casting line I had ever touched. I couldn't figure out if it was the line or the cheap rod I was trying it out on but eventually gave up on both.
A couple of months later as I was cutting it up for spare parts to make a multi-tip shooting head system for a saltwater trip I finally figured it out. I had put the damned thing on backwards! How somebody who has been fly-fishing since he was 12 could even manage to pull it off, let alone fail to figure it out is beyond me. And with that I will leave you with one final thought:

ReplyDeleteThanks for the moral support Philip.
DeleteYeah, kinda hard to cast that running line. Don't ask me how I know that. Let's just say I've been there.
ReplyDeleteYeah, running line pretty much runs and hides when you try and cast it by itself.
DeleteOh man! So much I could say here...
ReplyDeleteI am sure!
DeleteSeriously?
ReplyDeleteGregg
'fraid so. Honest to god truth.
DeleteI almost have done that, just a stupid comment of mine.
DeleteGregg
