I wish the ingredient list lasted a couple seconds longer. Other than that it was to my mind wonderful. Why do you not follow the Amensia Mono to the eye, as much as has a glowing tendency? Also, have you ever had the fur of the rabbit riding dorsally?
Gregg, Running the amnesia between the eye and the bead just doesn't seem to come out clean. You end up covering most of it with thread locking it down anyways. I have never tried flipping the fur so that it faces the shank. Just how I tied the first one, habit I guess, I will give it a shot. I will make the ingredients longer next time, thanks for the feedback.
I see now that the mistake I made when I tied a few up was the bead chain eyes were tied right up against the bead so they didn't "head stand" right. Good stuff McT!
Hey now...I still have a spare spool ready to go lined up with 15 lb red amnesia! I may be able to sacrifice a a couple feet of it for a few flies though...
Not much of a carpie, but I'm seeing Smallmouth/bonefish/permit written all over this pattern--just a color change. Great to see the finished underwater portion. Rather than amnesia, could you use d-rib vinyl? Great instructional.
I have only caught a couple of smallies on it to date, but I have always had the same feeling. A dark orange or brown perhaps for smallies. Not qualified for bonefish / permit.
McTage,

DeleteExcellent tutorial! I'm hoping to tie up a few of those for my carp box and that helps a lot.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ty!

ReplyDeleteThanks Mas. They would probably still catch fish that way but wouldn't quite swim or drop the same for sure.
Deleteyeah, good video. I enjoyed it. good idea with the amnesia, i'll be glad to get some of that used up.
ReplyDeleteI am sure many of us have sold our soul to first name chuck last name duck at some point in our sordid past. Might as well use all those leftovers.
DeleteThanks for the bathtub shots also . . . nice touch to see how it should swim for a novice carpie . . .
ReplyDeleteThanks Rex. You can't really understand what a pattern is or is not until you dunk it.

ReplyDeleteIs your spiritual advisor aware of your transgression? Not saying I wouldn't have a spare spool of my own if I still lived in MI mind you.
